Frequently Asked Questions
What is addiction treatment?
Addiction treatment refers to the process of diagnosing and treating an individual with an addiction to substances such as drugs, alcohol, or certain behaviors. This may involve a combination of behavioral therapy, medication, support groups, and lifestyle changes, tailored to the individual’s specific needs and circumstances. The goal of addiction treatment is to help the person achieve and maintain sobriety, improve their overall health and well-being, and achieve a fulfilling life in recovery.
What should you bring?
When entering addiction treatment, it is recommended to bring the following items:
- Comfortable clothing and personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.).
- Any necessary medications and a list of current medications, including dosages.
- Identification and insurance information.
- Cash or a credit card for incidentals.
- A journal or notebook to record thoughts and experiences.
- Books, games or other forms of entertainment to help pass the time.
- Pictures of family and loved ones or other comforting items.
It’s important to note that each treatment center may have its own policies regarding what is allowed, so it is recommended to check with the center beforehand. Additionally, many facilities prohibit items such as electronics, so it is best to check their list of prohibited items before packing.
