Intensive Outpatient

This page discusses some particulars about our Intensive Outpatient Program. At Daylight Detox and Recovery Center, our Intensive Outpatient programs (IOP) deliver addiction treatmentthat’s highly individualized, responsive, and effective. Upon completion of IOP, our clients leave the Daylight facility equipped with the coping skills and tools for permanent change that are crucial to authentic recovery.

The Alcohol and Drug Treatment Continuum

As we discuss our intensive outpatient program, it might be useful to think of alcohol and drug treatment as existing on a continuum of care.  Although this continuum (or spectrum) is not quite as simplistic as it will seem from this description, you can think of it as being structured in the following way.

The most basic (and least comprehensive) type of drug treatment is standard outpatient care, where clients report to a facility a few times a week for a couple of hours at at time.  The next level of care is an intensive outpatient program (IOP,) which we will describe in a moment.  The next two levels are partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and residential or inpatient treatment.

How it Works

At Daylight Detox and Recovery Center, clients enrolled in our Intensive Outpatient Program report to our facility several times a week for approximately 3-4 hours a day. While not participating in treatment, clients live either at home or in a collaborative housing setting. This combination allows our clients to continue to participate in their work and family lives while they are receiving treatment. This combination also embodies an important part of any authentic recovery– the application of the skills clients learn in a real world environment.

The particulars of a given client’s IOP plan depends on their specific needs, but they typically involve both individual and group therapy sessions, in addition to an introduction to 12-Step principles and other long term support groups. Clients are also encouraged to pursue their chosen spirituals lives with renewed vigor. By blending the benefits of individual therapy, peer support, and non-compulsory forms of spirituality, Daylight IOP prepares clients for the challenges of a satisfying and sober life.

In keeping with the overall Daylight treatment philosophy, our intensive outpatient programs are designed to promote true internal change. They begin with a detailed individual assessment which forms the basis for a client’s treatment program. Our counselors and support staff take the time to get to know their clients, thus ensuring they receive a care that truly works for them.

As the treatment process continues and we begin to understand our client’s needs at a deeper level, our counselors make whatever modifications that are necessary to help create the lives our clients deserve.
